বিএপিএলসি’র প্রেসিডেন্ট আজম জে চৌধুরীর নেতৃত্বে সম্প্রতি বাংলাদেশ এ্যাসোসিয়েশন অব পাবলিকলি লিস্টেড কোম্পানি (বিএপিএলসি)-এর একটি প্রতিনিধিদল, বাংলাদেশ সিকিউরিটিজ এ্যান্ড এক্সচেঞ্জ কমিশন (বিএসইসি)’র চেয়ারম্যান, ড. এম. খাইরুল হোসেনসহ বিএসইসি-এর কমিশনারবৃন্দ ও ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দের সাথে সিকিউরিটিজ এক্সচেঞ্জ ভবন, শের-এ-বাংলানগর, ঢাকায় সাক্ষাত করেন। সভায় বিএপিএলসি’র পক্ষ থেকে সম্প্রতি প্রকাশিত কর্পোরেট গর্ভনেন্সের কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অনুচ্ছেদ তুলে ধরেন যেগুলো সংশোধন করা প্রয়োজন। সভায় অন্যান্যদের মধ্যে এসময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন বিএসইসি-এর কমিশনারদ্বয়, মোঃ হেলাল উদ্দিন নিজামি ও ড. স্বপন কুমার বালা। এছাড়াও এই সময় আনিস এ. খান, ভাইস প্রেসিডেন্ট, বিএপিএলসি ও ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক ও প্রধান নির্বাহী, মিউচুয়াল ট্রাস্ট ব্যাংক লিমিটেড (এমটিবি), গোলাম রাব্বানি চৌধুরী, ই.সি মেম্বার, বিএপিএলসি ও ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক, বারাকা পাওয়ার লিমিটেড, রিয়াদ মাহ্মুদ, ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক, ন্যাশনাল পলিমার ইন্ডাস্ট্রীজ লিমিটেড, সৈয়দ ফরহাদ আহমেদ, ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক, আমরা টেকনোলজিস লিমিটেড, ইঞ্জিনিয়ার মোঃ আবু নোমান হাওলাদার, চেয়ারম্যান, বাংলাদেশ হাউস বিল্ডিং সিস্টেমস ্লিমিটেড, শাহরিয়ার আহমেদ, ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক, এ্যাপেক্স ফুডস ্লিমিটেড এবং মোঃ আমজাদ হোসেন, সেক্রেটারি জেনারেল, বিএপিএলসি উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
| BAPLC Delegation calls on the BSEC Chairman
A delegation of the Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed companies (BAPLC), led by its President Azam J Chowdhury called on Prof. Dr. M. Khairul Hossain, Chairman, Commissioners and other senior officials of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) at the Securities Exchange Bhaban at Agargaon, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Administrative Area in the capital recently. Commissioners of BSEC Prof. Md. Helal Uddin Nizami, Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala and other officials of the Corporate Finance Department were also present at the meeting. During the discussions held in a most cordial manner, the officials of BAPLC highlighted a number of sections incorporated in the recently gazetted Code of Corporate Governance, that need to be amended or improved, to facilitate better corporate governance of and by the listed companies of Bangladesh. The Chairman, Commissioners and other senior officials of BSEC spoke about the philosophy and requirement for promulgating such a code, and took the points put forward by the BAPLC delegation, positively, and said clarifications and changes would be effected at an opportune time, shortly. The President of BAPLC also appreciated and thanked the Commission for allowing publishing of the Annual Reports of the Public Listed Companies (PLCs) on their respective websites and sending through e-mail, which was a long-awaited demand of the Association. This measure will save substantial printing costs, which can then be transferred to the shareholders via dividends from the savings made and also support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly, better greening of the planet. |
