১৪ মার্চ, ২০২২ দেশের নারী উদ্যোক্তাদের আর্থিক সহায়তা প্রদানের লক্ষ্যে অংশীদারিত্ব করেছে বাংলাদেশ উইমেন চেম্বার অব কমার্স অ্যান্ড ইন্ডাস্ট্রি (বিডব্লিউসিসিআই) এবং স্ট্যান্ডার্ড চার্টার্ড ব্যাংক। সম্প্রতি, বিডব্লিউসিসিআই-এর সিনিয়র ভাইস প্রেসিডেন্ট সঙ্গীতা আহমেদ এবং স্ট্যান্ডার্ড চার্টার্ড বাংলাদেশ-এর কনজ্যুমার, প্রাইভেট ও বিজনেস ব্যাংকিং হেড সাব্বির আহমেদ একটি সমঝোতা স্মারক স্বাক্ষরের মাধ্যমে এই অংশীদারিত্ব চূড়ান্ত করেন।
চুক্তি স্বাক্ষর অনুষ্ঠানে আরও উপস্থিত ছিলেন স্ট্যান্ডার্ড চার্টার্ড বাংলাদেশ-এর বিজনেস ব্যাংকিং-এর জেনারেল ম্যানেজার শওকত আলম; বিডব্লিউসিসিআই পরিচালক বোর্ড-এর সদস্যবৃন্দসহ উভয় প্রতিষ্ঠানের অন্যান্য উর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ।
এই চুক্তির আওতায়, বিডব্লিউসিসিআই-এর সদস্যদের মূলধন ও আর্থিক সহায়তা পেতে সাহায্য করবে স্ট্যান্ডার্ড চার্টার্ড। এছাড়া, নারী উদ্যোক্তাদের জন্য আর্থিক পরিষেবা, পরামর্শ সহায়তা এবং প্রশিক্ষণ সেশন বিষয়ে জ্ঞান-বিনিময় সুবিধা প্রদানের মাধ্যমে এই অংশীদারিত্ব প্রসারিত হবে।
অনুষ্ঠানে, বিডব্লিউসিসিআই-এর সিনিয়র ভাইস প্রেসিডেন্ট সঙ্গীতা আহমেদ বলেন, “বিডব্লিউসিসিআই বিগত ২০ বছরেরও বেশি সময় ধরে দেশের নারী উদ্যোক্তাদের উন্নয়নে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে আসছে। স্ট্যান্ডার্ড চার্টার্ড-এর সাথে অংশীদারিত্ব করতে পেরে আমরা আনন্দিত। এই চুক্তি, আমাদের সদস্যদের প্রয়োজনীয় আর্থিক সহায়তা এবং ক্ষমতায়ন নিশ্চিতে ভীষণ কার্যকরী হবে বলে আমি আশাবাদী।”
স্ট্যান্ডার্ড চার্টার্ড বাংলাদেশ-এর কনজ্যুমার, প্রাইভেট ও বিজনেস ব্যাংকিং হেড সাব্বির আহমেদ বলেন, “বিডব্লিউসিসিআই-এর সাথে অংশীদারিত্বের মাধ্যমে দেশের নারী উদ্যোক্তাদের আর্থিক সহায়তা প্রদানে ভূমিকা রাখতে পেরে আমরা গর্বিত। তাদের ২০ বছরের অভিজ্ঞতা এবং নারী উদ্যোক্তাদের শক্তিশালী নেটওয়ার্ক, নিঃসন্দেহে নারীদের অর্থনৈতিক অংশগ্রহণ ও উপস্থিতি জোরদার করার স্ট্যান্ডার্ড চার্টার্ডের লক্ষ্য পূরণে সহায়ক হবে।
স্ট্যান্ডার্ড চার্টার্ড বাংলাদেশ-এর বিজনেস ব্যাংকিং-এর জেনারেল ম্যানেজার শওকত আলম বলেন, “এই অংশীদারিত্ব ধীরে ধীরে প্রসারিত হবে বলে আমরা আশাবাদী। এই চুক্তি ফলে, নারী উদ্যোক্তাদের ক্ষমতায়নের পূর্ণ সম্ভাবনা উন্মোচনের মাধ্যমে আমাদের বৈশ্বিক কৌশল বাস্তবায়নে আমরা সফল হবো।”
বিডব্লিউসিসিআই দেশের প্রথম নারী চেম্বার অব কমার্স। ২০০১ সালে প্রতিষ্ঠিত বাণিজ্য সংস্থাটি, জাতীয়ভাবে নারীদের অর্থনৈতিক ও সামাজিক ক্ষমতায়নে কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। প্রতিষ্ঠাকালে মাত্র ২৪ জন সদস্য নিয়ে কাজ শুরু করে সংস্থাটি। বর্তমানে দেশজুড়ে পাঁচ হাজারেরও বেশি সদস্য নিয়ে কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করছে বিডব্লিউসিসিআই। এটি একটি অ্যাডভোকেসি সংস্থা হিসেবে জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক মহলে ব্যাপক জনপ্রিয়তা লাভ করেছে।
দীর্ঘ ১১৭ বছরেরও বেশি সময় ধরে বাংলাদেশে নিরবচ্ছিন্ন কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করা স্ট্যান্ডার্ড চার্টার্ড ব্যাংকই দেশের একমাত্র বহুজাতিক ব্যাংক। দেশে দৃঢ় স্থানীয় উপস্থিতি এবং বৈশ্বিক পরিধি ও পণ্য কাজে লাগানোর সক্ষমতার অনন্য এক সংমিশ্রণ রয়েছে ব্যাংকটিতে। এই অংশীদারিত্ব, এসএমইএসকে উদ্দেশ্যমূলকভাবে বৃহত্তর স্থানীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক বাজারে সংযোগ স্থাপনে দেশে ও দেশের বাইরে স্ট্যান্ডার্ড চার্টার্ডের নেটওয়ার্কগুলো কাজে লাগাবে।
Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) and Standard Chartered announce partnership to facilitate access to finance for women entrepreneurs Dhaka, March 14, 2022, Monday – Standard Chartered and Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) has announced a partnership to jointly facilitate greater access to financial services for women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Sangita Ahmed, Senior Vice President, BWCCI and Sabbir Ahmed, Head, Consumer, Private and Business Banking, Standard Chartered Bangladesh to mark the collaboration. Under the partnership, BWCCI and Standard Chartered will collaborate to help grant BWCCI members with better access to capital and financial resources. The partnership will also extend to include knowledge exchange on financial services, consultation support and training sessions for women entrepreneurs. Sangita Ahmed, Senior Vice President, BWCCI said, “BWCCI has been a key contributor of women entrepreneurship development in Bangladesh for more than 20 years, and we are delighted to partner with Standard Chartered to empower our members with better access to finance.”
Sabbir Ahmed, Head, Consumer, Private and Business Banking, Standard Chartered Bangladesh said, “We are proud to partner with BWCCI with the goal of improving access to finance for women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh.” He added, “BWCCI’s decades-long experience and strong network of female entrepreneurs will undoubtedly complement Standard Chartered’s global aim of bolstering women’s economic participation and presence.
Shawkat Alam, General Manager, Business Banking, Standard Chartered Bangladesh said, “We hope this partnership will gradually expand, and in doing so will further align with our key global strategy for lifting participation in our key markets by empowering women entrepreneurs to unleash their full potential.”

Established in 2001, BWCCI is the country’s first women Chamber of Commerce, a trade body exclusively working on women’s economic and social empowerment nationally. Starting with only 24 members at the time of its inception, BWCCI now has more than 5000 members across the country. It has emerged as an advocacy organization with increased acceptance among cross section of people at the national and the international level.
With over 117 years of presence in Bangladesh, Standard Chartered is the only bank in the country with a unique blend of deep-rooted local presence and capacity to capitalise on its global network and product coverage. The partnership will leverage Standard Chartered’s banking networks both at home and abroad to purposefully connect SMEs with broader local and international markets.
