তিনি তার ব্র্যান্ড “তীর“ ইউনাইটেড রিসার্চ সার্ভিস অ্যান্ড প্রাইসওয়াটারহাউসকুপার্স (পিডব্লিউসি) পি.এল. দ্বারা ২০১৭-২০১৮ সালে বিশ্বের অন্যতম শীর্ষস্থানীয় নেতা এবং ব্র্যান্ড
হিসাবে স্বীকৃতী পেয়েছে। তিনি পুরাতন ঢাকার জনগণের চিকি’সার জন্য দেশের সবচেয়ে আধুনিক হাসপাতাল“ আজগর আলী হাসপাতাল “ নির্মাণ করেছেন। বছরের পর বছর ধরে, মিঃ রহমান স্বতন্ত্রতার সীমা অতিক্রম করেছেন এবং নিজেকে একটি প্রতিষ্ঠানে রূপান্তর করেছেন। তার উল্লেখযোগ্য উদ্যোগের কারণে তিনি পুরষ্কার এবং স্বীকৃতি পেয়েছেন কয়েকবার। মিঃ রহমান ডিএইচএল-ডেইলি স্টার আয়োজিত ্য়ঁড়ঃ;বিজনেস পার্সন অফ দ্য ইয়ার ২০০৫্য়ঁড়ঃ; পুরষ্কারে ভূষিত হয়েছিলেন। মিঃ রহমানকে ২০১৮-১৯ অর্থবছরের ্য়ঁড়ঃ;সেরা করদাত্য়াঁড়ঃ; হিসাবে ভূষিত করা হয়েছে। তিনি গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ সরকারের বানিজ্য মন্ত্রনালয় স্বীকৃত একজন বাণিজ্যিকভাবে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যক্তি (সিআইপি)।
মিঃ রহমান বাংলাদেশ সুগার রিফাইনার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন এবং বাংলাদেশ ভেজিটেবল অয়েল রিফাইনার্স এবং বনস্পতি ম্যানুফ্যাকচারার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের চেয়ারম্যান হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেছিলেন। তিনি বাংলাদেশ সরকারের বাণিজ্য মন্ত্রনালয়রে উপদেষ্টা কমিটির একজন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সদস্য। সম্প্রতি ৩০ এপ্রিল,২০২০ জনাব রহমান যমুনা ব্যাংক লিমিটেডের পরিচালনা পর্ষদের চেয়ারম্যানের দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করেন। তিনি ৮ মে,২০০৬ থেকে ২৮ এপ্রিল,২০০৭ পর্যন্ত যমুনা ব্যাংক লিমিটেডের পরিচালনা পর্ষদের চেয়ারম্যানের দায়িত্ব পালন করেছিলেন।
তার কর্পোরেট পরিচয় এর বাইরেও জনাব ফজলুর রহমান একজন পরোপকারী ব্যক্ত্বি। তিনি আঞ্জুমান মফিদুল ইসলামের ট্রাস্টি বোর্ডের আজীবন সদস্য এবং গেন্ডারিয়া উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ের ম্যানেজিং কমিটির একজন সদস্য।
Mr. Fazlur Rahman Chairman, Jamuna Bank Limited
The Board of Directors of Jamuna Bank Limited in its 366 th meeting held on April 29, 2020 unanimously
elected Mr. Fazlur Rahman as the Chairman of the Board. He is a renowned, well-known entrepreneur and
a commercially successful person in Bangladesh. Mr. Rahman is the founder Chairman and Managing
Director of the country’s leading conglomerate “City Group”, which he founded in 1972. Meager capital,
limited manpower, small entrepreneurship but sky-high outlook-the outlook, which he nurtured piece by
piece into today’s big tree, the industrial group: City Group, which employs over 15,000 people.
During Mr. Rahman’s five decades at the helm of City Group, the company continued its expansion beyond
traditional domestic food industry to new sectors, including packaging, energy, steel, ship-building business
and industrial projects (City Economic Zone). Mr. Rahman’s strong business acumen and diligence led
creation of country’s biggest FMCG brand “TEER” which not only received domestic awards but also
international recognition. He along with his brand TEER were recognized as one of the world’s greatest
leaders and brands in the year 2017-2018 by United Research Service and PricewaterhouseCoopers
(PwC) P.L.
He has also established country’s most modern tertiary care hospital – “Asgar Ali Hospital” – in old part of
the Dhaka to facilitate medical care in that part of the city.
Over the years, Mr. Rahman crossed the limits of individuality and transformed himself into an institution.
Due to his significant entrepreneurship, he has received several prestigious awards and recognitions. Mr.
Rahman was honoured with the award of the "Business Person of the year 2005" organized by DHL-Daily
Star. Mr. Rahman has been awarded as the "Best Taxpayer" of the fiscal year 2018-19. He is also a
Commercially Important Person (CIP) as recognized by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of the
Peoples Republic of Bangladesh.
Mr. Rahman was also the Chairman of Bangladesh Sugar Refiners Association and Bangladesh Vegetable
Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association. He is a member of the Advisory Committee of
Ministry of Commerce, Government of Bangladesh. Recently on April 30, 2020, Mr. Rahman took the
charge of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jamuna Bank Limited. He also served as Chairman of the
Board of Directors of Jamuna Bank Limited from May 08, 2006 to April 28, 2007.
Besides his corporate identity, Mr. Fazlur Rahman is also a philanthropist. He is the life member of Trustee
Board of Anjuman Mofidul Islam and member of the Managing Committee of Gandaria High School, Dhaka.
